WATER AND LAND MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE (WALMI) DHARWAD
INTRODUCTION:
To maximize returns from investments made in irrigation projects in the State, it is necessary to manage water and land in a systematic and scientific way. This requires capacity building of Government Staff as well Water Users. To meet these capacity building needs, Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) started functioning at Dharwad in April 1986 and was later registered as a Society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 on 16-06-1986. WALMI is located 13 kms away from Dharwad in the Belur - Dharwad Industrial Area on Belgaum Road. WALMI Campus is developed on about 135 acre lands and consists of: Administrative, Faculty and Residential Buildings and Demonstration farm.

ACTIVITIES:
Water and Land Management Institute, Dharwad: imparts training for inservice staff of Water Resources Department, Nigams, CADAs as well as water users; renders technical assistance to Government and Water Users Organisations, advises Government on legal, policy, organisational and procedural changes; organizes demonstrations in collaboration with other organizations, conducts special studies and brings out publications.
